Latest Review :   "The service was awful. How can it take 40 minutes to deliver starters from serving the first plate of mushroom bruschetta to the last bowl of soup? I have no idea either but they managed to do it. The food was appalling. My colleagues steak, which granted she asked for well-done could have replaced the sole of my boot. By contrast I had the soggiest fish and chips I have ever had. Didn't bother waiting for dessert even though I had prepaid"

Latest Review :   "Really disappointed. Food was inedible. The hot chilli nachos were really cold so we sent it back. They just warned it up in microwave, it was still cold and now soggy. I ordered a garlic naan bread, it was just a dry shop bought one with cold unmelted grated cheese on it and no garlic, not even warmed up. I sent it back to be heated up and it came back still cold and the cheese was still unmelted. The halloumi fries were cold n came with no dip. And a dried up burger for our son."

Latest Review :   "On first entering the room it looked quite nice, although very dark.We discovered once inside it was dark because the blind on the frosted glass door was broken so you couldn't pull it up,the bathroom also looked nice until you looked closer bathe panel was loose and mould on ceiling where there is obviously a leaky roof, the carpet between the bed and dresser was dirty and loose Quite a trip hazard and needs attending to.So overall first impressions were sadly changed."

Latest Review :   "Its quite a while since we have been here and i guess we wont be returning. My wife had cheese and onion pie, chips and beans. I had grilled sea bass, new potatoes and peas. The chips had been kept warmed for i dont know how long, and were soggy and inedible. The portion of pie was huge and was more suited for a builder not a woman. The sea bass was awful bland unseasoned and colourless. It was served with tinned new potatoes. "

Latest Review :   "Visited here 10th April 2022 for a chicken Sunday dinner and I’m sat still here in the Mill stone writing this. Staff not very helpful didn’t even bother to ask how the meal was. Cost for 2 soft drinks and 2 Sunday lunches £40 pound which I don’t mind paying if it’s good but it was poor. The mash potato was the size of a baby’s hand, the Yorkshire pudding nearly broken my teeth, 2 small roast potato’s on the plate and 1 skinny carrot. Food was cold and I’m still hungry now it’s like a kids portion. Poooooor."

Latest Review :   "Probably 1 of the worst meals I've seen presented at a restaurant in my life. Sausages and mash with garden peas , I asked specifically for mushy peas . 2 steaks ordered came out well done when they were ordered as medium rare and to top it all off we waited 1 hrs and 15 minutes for meals to be served. The mushy peas never arrived even after we mentioned it..and the steaks were well done. "

The staff were friendly, and professional. The pub has recently been renovated. It is nicely designed and comfortable. There is now a very large out door seating area with TV and bar access.  Latest Review :   "Booked for a meal tonight and it was probably the worst pub I've eaten in. To start with was told there was 4 missing items of the 7 item menu!!! which left nothing to choose from, my partner had the chilli con carne which clearly was microwaved as had more water in the bottom than lake windermere, I had the sausage and mash (due to lack of choice) with seasonal veg which meant 4 runner beans.  Latest Review :   "Visited with family 2 weeks ago. Service was very slow & the restaurant wasn’t full. 1 meal sent back as it was cold. Thought I’d give it another chance before posting a review. Went again tonight & the food has seriously gone downhill. The vegetables were either soggy or burned. Steak & ale pie was ok but tasted like frozen pastry. Really can’t understand why a chain pays a fortune for a restaurant, refurbishes when there is no need then serves sub standard food. Complete waste of money & won’t be returning."

Latest Review :   "Got to say very dissatisfied with both meals and also thwaites pint of beer. The sausages can only be best described as bulk buy catering sausages normally found at a road side cafe, the mash was obviously premade and not warmed up properly and the less said about the over cooked tin peas and over cooked carrots the better. The gravy was watery powdered stuff with some onion added... My wife's lasagne honestly looked like a £1.89 Aldi microwave meal for one that had been flung onto a plate with a salad."

Latest Review :   "Two people in my party ordered a chicken roast dinner. We expected more than a tiny chicken leg on the bone for £14.50. We expected carved chicken as you would with beef. Terrible value for money. The childrens scampi and chips was such a small portion it was a joke. We even considered ordering extra portion of chips as it was so small. No one came to check on the food order or offer drinks. I will not be returning here again."

Simply the best pub in Blackburn

As the title suggests, this is the best pub in the area. Great ale, great staff, great food and great atmosphere. Always something going on. Keep up the good work guys..Just stopped off for one but ended up staying longer , very nice comfortable pub worth a visit.

UNTRUSTWORTHY STAFF

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights for a friends wedding. When I checked out Saturday morning I realised within 15 minutes that I had left my toiletries in the bathroom and phoned the hotel straight away to inform them as cleaners had not yet been to my room to clean. A lady on reception told me they would go to the room to retrieve the items and call me back to arrange posting. I received a phone call over 24 hours later on Sunday evening to say that none of my items were found.

Restaurant Shocking.

Slow unattractive staff. Food was on this occasion acceptable. Incorrect order constantly asking what is ordered I don’t understand how places like this stay open they are lucky with the lack of competition in the area.

Popped in & so glad we did!

We were passing through and saw this fantastic building and were curious as it looked amazing. We were not disappointed at all. I had the Steak and ale pie and although don’t normally get excited by a pie I had to complement their chef as it was perfect! My wife was not disappointed by their burgers either. Lovely Staff, great service, not rushed but not too laid back. I would 100% recommend to any travellers looking for a drink and a bite to eat in Oswaldtwistle (I hope I spelt that right!)

We will not be visiting again!

The service was extremely poor considering that it was not busy and there were ample waiting on staff. We had to ask for everything from ordering to asking to pay not to mention over a half hour to wait for food and with a young baby in the party this was not acceptable. The food was just ok, the portion sizes were very disappointing thus making the value under par. The scallop starter was also poor value with three scallops for £17.50!! We haven't even paid that in some Manchester restaurants.

Not a good experience

We ordered two meals. Scampi and chips and Hunters chicken with chips. After 20 minutes we were told they had no Scampi and was offered Fish goujons but in batter not breadcrumbs. Why tell us after 20 minutes ? And not after we had ordered. Surely the chef should know what he has in . Another 25 minutes of waiting, the food arrived . Only to have some Scampi on it and some fish goujons. Over cooked. Fries not chips. The Hunters chicken had way too much cheese on top.

Totally unacceptable

Called in for a drink 5pm. A group of I think regulars at the bar,one in particular tall, short grey hair and tattoos on both forearms never stopped fffing and blinding to the disgust of us and an elderly couple. Male member of staff behind the bar must have heard him and did nothing to tell him from using that language It's obvious they are regulars and think they can do want they want. Who wants to visit a pub and listen to the lowlife talk,I don't for sure.It needs addressing.

Yuk

Went with my husband for cheese pie special, sat looking around and it was dirty. Dead flies on the windows ledge and carpet needed a vac. Ask for condiments and brown sauce and ketchup came squirted on a plate and looked lumpy.tasted it and was disgusting. The cheese pie was made with blue cheese( not written on the menu) so I didn't like that. Pleasant service but overall experience was like a greasy jeans!

Very disappointed, bad slow service

We had booked a table for a party of 10 to round off a weekend away celebrating friends 40th birthdays. Having walked for an hour to get to the pub we were very thirsty and ordered drinks which we had to wait 15 minutes for. We then ordered food with a couple of nibble plates to keep us going. An hour and a half after arriving we still didn't have our main courses. The pub did not appear that busy.

Business hotel they are joking!

Rude staff and Management didn’t seem to care less! Not worth the money paid for rooms. Had better experience elsewhere for less money. For the benefit of minimum characters, manager wasn’t bothered with dealing with my complaint, staff clearly working for their wage and that’s it!

Not good

Novelty of the new landlord/landlady has worn off walked in on a Saturday night whilst they had an act on and sadly only a handful of people at the bar, looks like they have obviously upset a few people as the last night we went in you couldn't move, it would be such a shame o see a decent pub go under... thwaites need to seriously have a look at who they are employing to run their pubs

Aztetec hotel's spa is disgusting, it's cold

Both the pool and the saunas are cold and full of children going in and out of the saunas and leaving the door open, the jacuzzi is closed but they were letting the children in and out of it, as well as splashing water in the pool and yelling, and understand me, it's a spa, not a public pool.

Poor food - rude manager

We ordered two meals which arrived very quickly but unfortunately the chips were cheap/ tasteless and there was a drizzle of gravy on the mince and onion pie meal (the pie was a small piece for a £12 meal along with cheap supermarket chips). We asked for a little more gravy and to our surprise found they had charged £1.50 for the extra. Upon bringing this to the attention of the lady on the till, the manager rudely interjected and stated that they would charge for it.

Limited spa, limited wifi, overall poor.

Overall the reservation process is poor as they seemed to be expecting one guest despite the reservation clearing stating two guests. Even after check in the staff did not bother updating the room with towels etc for two guests. In summary there is no attention to customer service and the hotel certainly does not make sure a spa is available for residents (even the pool and whirl pool are limited access for children under 14 so kids have limited activties)

Home cooked food at its best

This is a lovely little pub, with lovely home cooked food. The menu has plenty for everyone, and there is a specials board each day. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. . Whilst there is a large car park across road, it can be a bit tricky crossing the road at bust times.
